Yellow fever is a potentially deadly viral hemorrhagic disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes, and endemic in tropical areas of Africa and Central and South America.

WiRED International’s board and volunteers are deeply saddened by the death of Philip Pumerantz, Ph.D., on December 26, 2017. Dr. Pumerantz, who served on WiRED’s Honorary Board of Directors, was a leader in health education. He was the founding president and president emeritus of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) and Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) in Pomona, California.
