Launching GoFundMe Campaign, Instagram, Brochure

WiRED International announces a GoFundMe campaign, the launch of WiRED Instagram and the creation of a WiRED brochure.

The GoFundMe Campaign

WiRED’s GoFundMe campaign — “20 for 20 in 2021” — will support our health initiatives in Kenya. COVID-19, 100-year floods, food shortages and a lack of resources to treat physical and mental health needs are a few of the problems that underserved communities in Kenya are facing this year. Our campaign, called “20 for 20 in 2021,” will enable WiRED to train 20 community health workers (CHWs) in Kenya in the year 2021.

WiRED’s CHW Training Program is teaching workers to provide basic clinical services and improve health behaviors around such issues as COVID-19 protective measures, HIV antiretroviral therapy, diabetes management, childhood immunization and early prenatal care. The CHWs offer health education and health surveillance, becoming the bridge between their communities and the formal health system.  

WiRED’s GoFundMe campaign was set up by volunteer Margo Welsh, who holds a B.A. degree in biology from the University of Colorado – Boulder and an M.A. in positive health psychology from Claremont Graduate University.

WiRED Board Member Suellen Crano, Ph.D., said, “I just donated to this amazing organization, on whose board I sit. In fact, I am a founding member. WiRED has saved so many lives over the last 23 years by educating people about health, nutrition and communicable/noncommunicable diseases, and now we are training CHWs in regions plagued by poverty, illness and malnutrition. Give something to this GoFundMe campaign if you want to donate to an excellent cause where the organization puts over 93% of what it takes in to programs.”
